Serger troubles, knitting, etc.

Hi!

I've not been blogging much since I've started working. So here I go trying to squeeze in a quick blog post before running to work! Hopefully I'll learn how to blog more effectively now that I have less free time.

One of the greifers (the internal knitting thingie) inside my beloved serger broke (snapped) a few weeks ago. The serger came back from the repairs, but it made clicking noises as it serged and it "skipped" stitches. I've taken it back to the shop twice since then, and it is still not fixed. Today I am giving them a call telling them I've had it with this level of service (Bernina store, Dizengoff St, Tel Aviv).

Here's the 10-gore skirt I drafted on my own and started sewing the previous weekend. I need to make the lining (same as making the outer skirt but so very worth it in terms of end result), the invisible zipper, and the waistband. The fabric is a very fraying weave, suitable for a jacket.

With all my sewing woes I've turned to a brush off my knitting skills. My mom, who is an expert knitter, taught me several years ago. Who knew my fingers still remembered how it's done?

I couldn't get back to sleep in the middle of the night tonight partly because of the very old and very noisy fridge in my apartment. So I unplugged it! I virtually have no food in it anyway. I'm going to get myself this small inexpensive fridge and be done with my noise troubles!

Have a great day gals! I would love to hear from you in the comments. Just drop in and say hi :-)

Three times and still not fixed.. doesn't sound promising. The skirt looks like it will be lovely and warm... a timeless fabric that can be worn with lots of combinations. You learnt so much with the drafting course. Hope you can squeeze in time to use those skills.

I have just thrown my old serger out as it was being horrible for so long! My dear hubby let me purchase a new one on the weekend and I'm going to get a new sewing machine tomorrow.
I feel like I've had my limbs removed, having my machines out of action for so long, lol! They did give me more than 17 years of excellent hard work, so I shouldn't complain!
I do hope you find an end to your troubles soon.
